Introduction

Winner of the 2010 World Car of the Year award, Volkswagen Polo is all set with its new facelift, the New Polo 6C which is the facelift model of the earlier sixth generation Polo. Popular amongst the sub-compact hatchbacks, Polo is gaining a lead in the Sri Lankan auto market also. The facelift of the hatchback has got advanced features along with redesigned exteriors and improved technology.

Engine, Mileage and Variants

The 1.2 litre petrol engine with its 3 powerful cylinders knocks out a maximum power of 75 PS @ 5400 rpm along with a maximum torque of 110 Nm @ 3750 rpm. The 5 speed manual transmission manages to deliver an impressive combined mileage of 16.47 kmpl and allows the hatchback to reach 100 kmpl from a standstill in 14.1 seconds. Performance wise also the car has got an upgrade in terms of good mileage and power.

Exteriors

Elegant and galvanized body of the Polo with chrome finish on the front grille and the embossed brand Logo gives a superior appearance to the car. The dual beam Halogen headlamps illuminates the way in complete dark terrains and the broad fog lamps provide a better vision in various climatic conditions. Detailing to the bumper, sides and the tail gate is given with strong character lines and the body coloured bumpers, door gate handles and ORVM with turn indicators makes the hatch look very elegant. It stands at 3971mm x 1682mm x 1469mm (L x W x H) with a Wheelbase of 2469mm. The variant is equipped with 14 inch steel wheels with full wheel caps and accommodate a tyre size of 175/70 R14. All in all, the Polo has always impressed the audience with its looks and continues to do so.

Height adjustable Head restraints at the front and rear (L shaped) and Emergency exits are the new splendid safety features in the Polo 6C. Front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, 3-point front and rear seat belts and Dual front airbags help the driver and the passengers from injuries at the time of collisions. Rear view mirror inside the hatchback has Anti-glare adjustment that doesn't disturb the driver while driving at night between the high beams. High mounted stop lamp and front Fog lamps provide additional vision and safety while driving.
