Suzuki Dzire

Introduction

One of the prominent Japanese auto maker, Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the facelifted version of the sub-4 metre sedan named as Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire in Sri Lanka. This car is the sedan variant of Suzuki Swift series. It is considered as the outcome of Suzuki’s indigenous project which was started in the year 2005, embracing designing and development of three-box notchback model of Swift hatchback. The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire appears a little better than its previous versions, however comprising a competitive price, which credit goes to its excise benefits.

Engine, mileage & variants

Available with number of variants, the new Suzuki Dzire comes with a good combination of petrol and diesel engine including 1.2 litre K-series petrol engine and 1.2 litre DDiS diesel engine, delivering exceptional performance at any kind of situation. The K series 1.2 litre petrol engine is paired with VVT (Variable Valve timing) improvising its results of fuel economy. This 1.2 litre petrol engine produces the maximum power of 87 PS at 6000 rpm, along with the peak torque of about 114 Nm in 4000 rpm. However, the 1.2 litre DDiS diesel engine with CRDi fuel distribution generates 75 PS of maximum power in 4000 rpm and the high torque comes at 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. In terms of fuel economy, the 1.2 litre K-series petrol engine takes the fuel consumption as 20.85 kmpl, which is quite impressive for the vehicles of its class. Further, the same powertrain takes 12.6 seconds to breach the speed mark of 0 to 100 kmph from a standstill position.

Exteriors

The newly revealed Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is upgraded with various cosmetic changes increasing grace and elegance to its external outline. This sedan looks stunning from every angle, including its polished bumper to the sleek radiator grille which perfectly complements its front facade. To exhibit its aggressive and bold impression, it is embedded with striking headlight cluster, which is finished with black tinge. Also, the designers have also accentuated its sideways with fenders, body colored door handles and flowing character lines complimenting its aerodynamic body. Overall exterior proportions of this sedan is expressed as 3995 mm x 1695 mm x 1555 mm (L x W x H) and the standard wheelbase is 2430 mm. To reveal its robust character, this sedan by Maruti Suzuki comes outfitted with 14 and 15 inch alloy wheels.

Interiors

Luxurious seats, classy upholstery and premium appointments, interiors of all-new Dzire have been designed incredibly which makes you feel like home while driving. The wood accents adorned on the board enhances the entire plushness of Dzire’s cabin. Chrome finished analogue meters equipped at the instrument panel looks compelling, alongside the multi-information display gives all the important information to the driver. Base-variants comes fitted with electric power assisted steering wheel featuring tilting function, and also embedded with number of controls providing hassle-free driving experience to the driver. When it comes to entertainment, this sedan is equipped with an audio system featuring radio tuner, CD player and USB port. Further, it has Bluetooth connectivity which enable you to make calls while driving the car.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

As a luxury sedan designed by Maruti Suzuki, Swift Dzire never compromises when it comes to active and passive safety for the driver and passengers. For safety all-over, new Dzire comes fitted with dual airbags for the driver and front passenger. For emergency stopping, this car comes outfitted with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) along with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. Alongside, its active braking system encloses ventilated disc brakes and drum type brakes for front and rear pair of wheels respectively. Providing decent handling, this sedan comes with MacPherson strut at the front axle and Torsion beam at the rear. Other safety measures include immobilizer, security alarm system, ELR seat belts and child locks.

Verdict

An appealing compact sedan comprising decent mileage along with plenty of spacious cabin, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is the perfect companion of your long drives. However, the lack of advanced safety aspects might disappoint its customers.
